New beginnings take different forms.

Almost four weeks ago Ann was involved in an auto accident with our 2004 Oldsmobile Alero. An inattentive young man who was not insured, rear ended our car and caused a mess of things. This put Ann in the hospital for a bit and turned things completely upside down. Fortunately, I have always selected good coverage in the way of insurance and State Farm has always done very well with anything I've had happen. They came through this with flying colours and after three weeks of a rental car and finding our own vehicle was totaled, we went in search of a new vehicle. After some issues with the credit union I belong to, we decided to try Alan Webb Chevrolet, as they had the car we wanted. This worked out beautifully as we were able to drive away with a new (well, used but 2013) Chevy Cruze with lower miles. Yep, it was a good thing for sure and opens a new chapter in our vehicle/driving history. Been a log time since we bought a car, actually about a decade. This has a lot of new features not available then. Yippee! Road trip!

On the running front, this summer has been about what I usually accomplish. Not too many miles per week and lay low till autumn and cooler temperatures arrive. This summer has been exceptionally hot and bad as we've had very little moisture at all and 24 days over 90°. And, we still have over a month left of possible hot days . No doubt the record of 24, which we've tied, will be broken and then some. Hard to say when things will get back to a more moist pattern but probably mid September. I've been biking and running both so the legs are feeling great and I simply need to add mileage to the running totals to get back to consistent 10K and half marathon distances. Not an easy thing right now but as temps cool, I hope to get out there more.
Even have hopes of a duathlon in the future, perhaps the Champoeg Duathlon sprint in late September?
                                                             Champoeg Sprint Duathlon

Hmmmmm. Might need to train a bit more for that event. :-)

  1. I’m very sorry to hear about what happened to Ann. I hope that she gets well soon. That said, your new Chevy is a great turn from where you were with cars a few weeks back. It really is time for you to take a drive, just so you can seize the road again. Drive safe!
